Intense tear gas shelling by CRPF and police men created suffocation in Srinagar’s Batamaloo on Friday evening.

The shelling created problems and elders and children had run for safety.

Reports reaching here said that clashes erupted between forces and protestors when forces were leaving the area.

“The CRPF and Police men stopped their vehicles, got down and lobbed hundreds of tear gas shells,” a local said.

“The whole atmosphere was engulfed in tear smoke and residents started intensely coughing,” the local said.

A local from Danderkhah Batamaloo said that they left their homes for safety. “We have two elderly family members and two minors who are facing tough times during these days,” the local said, “we have closed down our house, which is situated adjacent to main road, and have moved to our relatives home.”

Another local from New Colony Batamaloo said that at least two tear smoke canisters landed inside his home. “One of our children miraculously saved,” he said.
