Jammu and Kashmir Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB) has established 222 employment generating units, so far, during the current year.

This was stated in a meeting on Monday chaired by Vice Chairman Mansoor Hussain Suhrawardy, an official spokesperson said this evening.

The meeting reviewed the performance made under Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP).

It was given out that J&K KVIB has established 222 employment generating units under PMEGP so far during the current fiscal in Kashmir Division. The Board has provided Rs. 3.19 crore as margin money to the Unit holders for setting up income generating units.

Seeking the details about the progress of establishment of clusters of artisans, carpet weavers, potters, silk manufacturers, willow basketry  and apricot processers under Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industry, the Vice Chairman was informed that work is under progress and clusters have been identified in every district.

He said that KVIB has been designated as nodal agency for establishment of clusters in Jammu and Kashmir by the Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).

While talking about the unemployed youth of the state, the Vice Chairman directed the KVIB authorities to establish units like Health care centers, Gyms and Fruity Packing box units in every district to propagate the schemes being implemented by the KVIB to benefit the youth.

During the meeting various issues were discussed threadbare to streamline the functioning of Board. Vice Chairman was also apprised about various issues being faced by the Board Officers, which he assured them of early redressal.

Secretary/CEO KVIB, Mir Afroz, Deputy CEO KVIB Kashmir Division, Deputy CEO KVIB PMEGP, District Officers of Kashmir Division and other senior officers of the KVIB attended the meeting.
