Terming the arrest of its chairperson as “frustration” of chief minister Mehbooba Mufti and “notorious” Jammu and Kashmir police, Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) general secretary Nahida Nasreen on Wednesday said that thousands of people have been blinded by the same police and thousands of others from different parts of the valley have been put in jails.
In a statement issued here this evening, the DeM general secretary said, “the puppet administration of Kashmir including the scandalous police have imposed PSA’s on our youth and with that a new era of oppression and brutality has been recorded in the books of history.”
Commenting on the ban on English daily newspaper, Kashmir Reader, the DeM general secretary said that despite reporting “unbiased” from the ground the paper has been banned on “flimsy” grounds. “This is sheer frustration of the puppet government.”
Nahida condemned the “brutality” of Jammu and Kashmir police on women protestors who were protesting yesterday on the call of joint resistance leadership.
“Thousands of women from Pulwama, Tral, Bijbehara and Ganderbal participated in the rallies across Kashmir and police used brute force to disperse the women protestors. In Ganderbal, where DeM chairperson was addressing a mammoth gathering telephonically, teargas shells were lobbed inside a Masjid where the rally was going on,” she said.
She said that scores of their activists were injured in the police action.
Meanwhile, Nahida said that DeM chairperson Syedah Aasiyeh Andrabi including Sofi Fehmeeda was yesterday arrested and shifted to Rambagh Police station.
“Since Syedah Aasiyeh has always stood firm for the Kashmir cause, therefore the people of Kashmir are advised to stay firm till the resolution of Kashmir issue and not to succumb the dirty tactics of occupiers.”
