Mushtaq Ahmad, former Chairman of J&K Bank, called on Governor N N Vohra, at the Raj Bhavan here on Thursday.

The Governor and Ahmad discussed the various major challenges faced and the lessons to be learnt from the Bank’s operations in the recent years with the objective of playing a growingly larger role in speeding up the growth and development of the State and also providing targeted support to identified segments of the economy, particularly the craftsmen, weavers and artisans, horticulturists and entrepreneurs, an official spokesperson said this evening.

Ahmad completed his term as Chairman J&K Bank yesterday. The Governor wished him good health and happiness in all his future endeavours.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson said that Ms Shamima Raina, senior Vice-President, J&K Mahila Congress and a social activist, called on Vohra at the Raj Bhavan.

Ms Raina apprised the Governor about the hardships being faced by the people due to prevailing unrest and how the aspirations of the Kashmir youth required to be dealt with.

Stressing the crucial importance of peace being urgently restored in the State, the Governor urged Ms. Raina to continue with her endeavours in this regard.
