Three suspected militants died in an “encounter” that raged in Langate area of North Kashmir Kupwara district while four other suspected militants died in Nowgam sector after forces “foiled the infiltration bid” in the area on Thursday, sources said.
According to defence sources, an army camp in Langate area was attacked around 5 AM on today. Two army men were injured in the early morning encounter.
“At around 5 AM, militants opened firing on an army camp at Langate,” reports said. “The army soldiers retaliated and three of the suspected militants died.”
Meanwhile, soon after the Langate attack, a “fresh infiltration bid” at Nowgam sector in Kashmir was “foiled” by the army, sources said.
As per reports in the exchange of fire that followed, four suspected militants died.
Meanwhile, defence spokesperson, Colonial Rajesh Kalia told KNS that seven militants died at two different places today.
“Three militants were killed in Langate encounter while four more were killed in Nowgam sector,” he said.
He said that the identification of the militants killed today is yet to be ascertained.
