#Day91: After Joint Congregational Friday Prayers, Clashes Erupt In Palhallan

Intense clashes erupted in North Kashmir’s Palhallan town on Friday as men in uniform did not allow people to take out a pro-freedom rally.

Reports reaching here said that a joint Friday prayers was held in Eidgah Palhallan today.

“People from Wussan, Goshbugh, Aglar, Chanderhama and other adjoining villages offered mandatory congregational Friday prayers,” a local said.

He added that Friday prayers concluded around 3 PM and people took out a march raising pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.

“However, large numbers of police and CRPF men were deployed in the area and they started unprovoked tear gas shelling on the rally,” the resident said.

“The tear gassing provoked youths to resort to stone pelting resulting in intense clashes,” he said.

Earlier in the day, the local said that police announced in the area that curfew was imposed in the area.

Clashes were going on when last reports came in. The united resistance leadership has called for UN march today, however, severe restrictions have been imposed across Kashmir.
