Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Law and Justice, Abdul Haq Friday visited the Machil area of Kupwara district to interact with the victims of cross LoC shelling and took stock of the situation.

He was accompanied by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad khan and DC Kupwara Neeraj Kumar, an official spokesperson said this evening.

While interacting with people at Machil, Abdul Haq assured every possible help from government to people.

He directed the administration to provide every possible help to the people affected by the cross LoC shelling and asked the administration to ensure proper shelter to the people who have been displaced due to shelling.

Abdul Haq also directed administration to provide blankets to the displaced families and also directed for proper medical facilities to the people.

The Minister said that the government is aware of the hardships faced by the people and that government will take care of the victims affected by the skirmishes on the borders.

He assured adequate compensation to the victims and long term security and welfare measures for them. He said bunkers will be constructed in border villages to save human lives in future.

The Minister also directed the district administration to ensure availability of essential supplies including ration, kerosene and LPG.

Residents on the occasion apprised the Minister about the problems faced by them and the Minister passed on spot directions for the redressal of the same.
