Police on Saturday said that four persons died in Kashmir while nine others were injured. Two structures too have been damaged in a blaze.
“Three persons died while nine others were injured in different road accidents in the valley,” a police spokesperson said in a statement issued this afternoon.
In Shopian, a Truck bearing registration number JK22-3819 hit a Tata Mobile-207 vehicle bearing registration number JK02AR-5521 and an Auto Load Carrier bearing registration number JK18A- 1107 near Police Station Herpora, resulting in injuries to four commuters boarding the vehicles.
The injured were identified as Hadayat Ahmad Khan, Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Aashiq residents of Poonch and Aashiq Hussain resident of Manzgam Kulgam.
All the injured were shifted to District Hospital Shopian for treatment, where one of the injured Mohammad Aashiq succumbed to his injuries.
In Leh, a Maruti-800 car bearing registration number JK02AC-1193 driven by Tsering Angmo, wife of Sonam Rigzen, resident of Martselang, Leh skidded off the road and fell into the Canal of Stakna Power House at Kharu near Petrol Pump, Kharu, resulting in death to the driver of the vehicle and a commuter namely Sonam Rigzen, son of Sangay Punchok, resident of Martselang Leh.
Besides, a minor child Stanzin Chulzang son of Pasang Tashi resident of Skara got injured during the incident.
The bodies are lying at SNM Hospital, Leh for post mortem and the injured child was shifted to SNM Hospital Leh for treatment.
In Budgam, a Motorcycle driven by Nisar Ahmad Bhat, resident of Khag collided with another Motorcycle driven by Javaid Ahmad Ganie, resident of Hardusurash, Khag at Khag, resulting in injuries to both the motorcyclists.
Both the injured were shifted to District Hospital Budgam for treatment.
In Kupwara, a Maruti Eecho vehicle bearing registration number JK09A-5435 driven by Mohammad Qasim Pir resident of Drugmulla, Kupwara hit and injured a pedestrian Ali Mohammad Bhat resident of Drugmulla, Kupwara at Bumhama Highway.
The injured was shifted to District Hospital Kupwara for treatment, wherefrom he was referred to Bone & Joints Hospital, Srinagar for further treatment.
In Islamabad, an accident took place between a Motorcycle bearing registration number JK02AV-1661 driven by Zahoor Ahmad Bhat, resident of Tangpwa Kokernag and a Cycle driven by Adil Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Lissar Kokernag near IMI School Bidder Kokernag, resulting in injuries to both the Cyclists and a pillion mate Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, resident of Tangpwa Kokernag.
All the injured were shifted to Sub-District Hospital Kokernag for treatment, wherefrom Zahoor Ahmad Bhat and Adil Ahmad Sheikh were referred to District Hospital Islamabad for further treatment.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson said that fire broke out in a Kotha belonging to Noor Mohammad Bujran, resident of Nagbal at Gulab Jadi Behak, Shopian resulting in damage to the Kotha.
In this incident, the owner of the Kotha along with 01 horse, 04 cows, 03 calves and 05 Sheeps came under the debris of the Kotha and expired.
The body of the deceased was recovered from the debris and handed over to his legal heirs for last rites.
Fire broke out in a joint residential house of Ishfaq Ahmad Chichi and Mst Noor Bibi, residents of Lassan Nar in the jurisdiction of Police Station Kangan, Ganderbal, resulting in damage to the house.
Fire was brought under control by fire tenders.
