A hut has been razed to ashes inside the premises of J&K Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) at Sempora Pampore on Monday evening.
Armed forces including men from J&K Police, SOG, CRPF and Rashtriya Rifles cordoned off one of the EDI buildings after movement of suspected militants was reported at it Sempora headquarter.
Huge number of forces was rushed to the spot as “soldiers established contact with the hiding suspected militants”. The militants, believed to be two in number, are said to be hiding in seventh floor of the hostel building.
In February this year, three militants were killed inside front building of the EDI in the same premises. Four other soldiers were too killed in the same operation which lasted for three days.
This morning, fire started coming out of the top floor which caught attention of the EDI staff which stay inside the same building.
The forces used shells to target the militants which created fear in the adjoining areas. The blasts resulted in cracks in residential houses in Pantha Chowk area, reports said.

Police sources said that one mortar shell missed the target and hit a hut besides the building destroying it completely.
“There is fire coming out of a corner in 2nd floor of the building,” an eye witness said.
“We are conducting search operation this time,” a police official said, “there is no exchange of fire this time.”
Meanwhile, the vital Srinagar-Jammu highway has been closed near Pantha Chowk due to the “encounter”. “Only armed men are roaming and guarding the area,” a local resident said, “private traffic has been diverted.”
