J&K police on Monday recovered dead body of a 27-year-old missing girl in Kishtwar.
The deceased was identified by sources as Shafiqa Banoo, daughter of Mohammed Yousuf Raina, resident of Kuchhal.
As per the details available with Kashmir Life, the deceased girl was missing from her home since October 1, 2016 after she went to field for farming but did not return.
Police sources informed that her family members had lodged a missing complaint with Police Station Chatroo only two days prior to the recovery of the deceased dead body.
Following registration of the missing complaint, police started its investigation and launched a manhunt to trace her.
The sources said that some people after seeing some dead body in a water stream in Chatroo near village Kukarwagan brought the matter into the notice of police.
SHO Police Station Chatroo, Inayat Hussain, immediately rushed to the spot and took possession of the body which was later identified to be that of Shafiqa Banoo who was missing since last 10 days.
Police shifted it to district hospital Kishtwar where the doctors conducted autopsy on her and later handed the dead body to the family members for burial.
Police have started the investigation of the case U/S 174 Cr PC.
