J&K Police on Wednesday evening issued a statement detailing the day’s situation along with the “encounter” between forces and suspected militants inside the J&K EDI premises at Sempora Pampore which ended after 56 hours today.

The encounter at EDI building Pampore ended today with the killing of two militants.
The encounter had started on 10th of October 2016 between the militants and security forces.
On the first day itself the militants were asked to surrender. Instead they fired upon police and security forces from the building.
The militants also set some rooms of the building on fire. An army Jawan was injured in the encounter on the first day.
The police and security forces kept continued cordon around the building and also started room intervention.
During this encounter two militants were killed.

The bodies of the militants have been recovered from the encounter site, today.
The identity of the slain militants is being ascertained.
Two AK rifles, 09 Magazines, grenades and other ammunition has been recovered from the encounter site.
Meanwhile, in view of the sensitivity of certain areas curfew was imposed in some Police Stations of the old city. However, there was no curfew elsewhere across the valley.
The situation remained largely peaceful although a couple of stone pelting incidents were reported.
Today being 10th Muharram a number of processions were taken out across Kashmir in which thousands of people participated. Many of these processions culminated peacefully while some were going on till filing of this report.
Increased flow of traffic and movement of people continued in most areas of Srinagar and other parts of valley.
Vendors and shopkeepers were seen doing their usual business in the markets and towns of the valley.
Keeping continued pressure on the “trouble mongers and miscreants”, 37 persons “involved in crimes of disruption” of peace and movement of people have been arrested by police across Kashmir.
