In a surprise move National Conference President and former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah has convened a meeting of all the opposition mainstream political parties as his Gupkar residence Srinagar at 11 AM in tomorrow.

Sources in NC while disclosing this to KNS revealed that those invited for the meeting include J&K Pradesh Congress President Ghulam Ahmad Mir, Secretary CPI (m) M Y Tarigami, Peoples Democratic Front chairperson Hakim Mohammad Yasin, Democratic Party Nationalist Ghulam Hassan Mir and Awami Ittihaad Party Chief Er Rashid.

If sources are to be believed all the invitees are expected to attend the meeting the meeting is to discuss the current situation in Kashmir, the continuing stand-off in Indo-Pak relations, situation in border areas on both the sides of Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting is likely to discuss all other issues particularly the State Government’s decision to hold examinations on schedule and resumption of regular class work in Schools colleges and Universities.

However, MLA Langate and AIP chief, Er Rashid told Kashmir Life on Thursday late evening, “I have not been contacted by any one nor have I received any such invitation.”

  1. It was during this fellow’s chief minister ship in 1987 that militancy was born in Kashmir.
He did nothing then, and it would be ideal if he does or says nothing now.

He is insignificant in the current scheme of things….and his calling of all parties for a meeting is his realization of his own insignificance in Kashmir.

All that Kashmir needs is freedom from Pakistani terrorists, and significant investments in infrastructure projects, thereby giving jobs to the youth of Kashmir.
