#Day97: Forces Raid Hurriyat Leader’s Shopian House; Protests, Clashes Erupt

Intense clashes erupted in South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday morning when police and CRPF men raided house of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader.

Reports and local sources said that forces raided house of Muhammad Yousuf Falahi in Chitragam village.

“Hundreds of people came out of their homes and raising pro-freedom protests,” local sources said, “forced fired tear gas shells and pellets to disperse off the protestors.”

Falahi is Shopian chief of Syed Ali Geelani led Tehreek-e-Hurriyat. He has been holding and addressing pro-freedom rallies ever since July 09, 2016 and now he is on the run because of the police raids, local said.

“People resorted to stone pelting and clashes are still continuing,” locals said. “Clashes have spread to nearby Mulu village as well.”

The sources said that many people were injured, however, they could not give exact details about them.
