Chinar Corps flagged off a “national integration” for children of Shopian district under the aegis of Shopian based Army Camp on 14 Oct 2016 to Chandigarh for a period of nine days.

The tour was flagged off by Major General Ashok Narula, General Officer Commanding, Victor Force and various dignitaries including Tahir Saleem Khan, SSP Shopian; Sahafat Khan, Dy SP (Ops) Shopian; Tariq Ahmad, Dy SP (Dar).

“The tour will be providing an opportunity to the children of Shopian district to witness the educational and Industrial development, and culture of other parts of the country,” a statement issued by army said on Friday evening.

“Children will get an opportunity to visit War Memorial, Infosys IT Park, Rock Garden, Air Force Base, Punjab University and Engineer Regiment of the Army in Chandigarh. The children will gain educational experience by visiting the Punjab University and interacting with the students. The children will also visit Apple fruit processing factory and State Museum at Shimla which will further enhanced their horizon. They will also interact with students of Military School, Chail and will get to know the education system of Military School. Apart from the above, they will also visit Military Museum in Jammu during their return journey from Shimla,” the statement informed.

The army said that the tour will also instil “a sense of motivation in young children pursue higher education and imbibe national pride”. “This tour will provide will help them to understand the importance of education in building the society.”

The tour comprises of 20 children of Shopian district along with a team of Army.
