Property worth Lakhs of rupees has been damaged in forces action in Nowpora Jagir of district Baramulla.

On Friday protests erupt in in Nowpora Jagir of the district as locals were getting ready for congregational Friday prayers after police and CRPF men entered in village and ransacked public property.

“Forces fired pellets and teargas shells which caused injuries to a local boy namely Firdous Ahmad Lone and he was rushed to Srinagar hospital,” an eye witness said.

Police arrested a protester who was later identified as Abdul Hameed Lone.

“My house, car and other properties has been damaged by police and CRPF men; they canned us when we tried to stop them,” a local, Nazir Ahmad Lone said.

“Ahead of Friday prayers, forces emerged in the village and ransacked public property, they damaged my house completely,” another resident Hayat Ahmad said.

“We have only house to hide over selves from the open sky and that too has been damaged by police and CRPF men”, said Maqbool Ahmad said.

Meanwhile, intense clashes erupted at main chowk, fish Market, Chota Bazar, New Colony and other adjoining areas of Sopore.

Apropos to the news item under the title property ransacked….. circulated on social networking sites.

District police administration Baramulla has clarified that at Nowpora Jagir a large number of miscreants assembled and pelted stone on police and security forces deployment in which 13 policemen were injured.

It further clarified that the damage to the window panes in the area was only because of stone pelting.

The news report circulate on social media and news portals is baseless and is therefore refuted.
