Minister for (R&B) and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri Saturday chaired a meeting of District Development Board, Pulwama to review the progress of various developmental projects and programmes in the district.
The Minister took appraisal of all the on-going works and implementation of various decisions taken in the previous meeting, an official spokesperson said this evening.
He expressed satisfaction over the pace of progress of works and called upon the concerned officers to put in their best efforts to achieve the targets well in time and implement all the decision of the Board in letter and spirit for the overall benefit of the public.
It was decided in the meeting that CT Scan and Digital X-ray machines will be operated under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode in hospitals of Pulwama in view of the great rush of patients.
The meeting also discussed the issue of manpower in health institutions and stressed the need for overcoming the shortage by rationalizing the staff to ensure efficient functioning of healthcare system, especially in the PHCs.
The meeting was informed that land has been identified and tender process has started for the construction of two indoor stadiums at Bajwani Tral and Rajpora at an estimated cost of Rs 4.00 crore approved by the GOI under PM’s Special package.
The meeting was also apprised about the status of road projects like Circular road, Pulwama-Lassipora road, Tral Dadsara road.
Giving details about the achievements registered, the officers informed that Pulwama town bypass road has been made functional, widening and upgradation of Pulwama-Lassipora road (8km) has been completed and work on Tral -Dadsara road in full swing.
It was also given to understand that modalities are being finalized for setting up of mega packaging, grading and marketing center at Rajpora constituency.
For the maximum benefits of the apple growers, Veeri directed the officers to create grass root awareness about crop insurance scheme so that the growers avail full benefits of the scheme.
Regarding the construction of irrigation facilities for benefit of 17 villages of Rajpora and Pulwama, the meeting was informed that a revised DPR in two parts costing Rs 66.00 crore and Rs 35.00 crore has been submitted.
The meeting also gave its nod for construction of mega projects of residential accommodation for district officers, construction of Revenue complex; Industrial complex and Engineering complex and directed the concerned to take up the works after completing all the necessary formalities and complete them in a time schedule.
