Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Dr Owais Ahmed on Wednesday called a meeting to review the ongoing developmental works, especially under the Public Works Department.

He took a detailed account of ongoing projects of the health department, school education department and particularly upgradation of roads by way of macdamisation in district Shopian.

The meeting discussed the proposal for the macadamisation of 42 kilometers of road and out of which five km have been black coated this financial year till now.

He was apprised by the concerned department that certain contractors are not taking their work seriously and have not yet started the work even after more than 20 days of allotment.

Acting tough on such contractors, Dr Owais directed the Executive Engineer PWD to issue notices to such non-serious contractors to immediately take up the work allotted to them. He said that any further delay will invite action against such contractors.
