SRINAGAR: The People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) Wednesday emerged victorious in District Development Council (DDC) elections for chairperson in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Officials told the news agency KNO that Muhammad Yousuf Gorsi, who won maiden DDC polls on National Conference (NC) ticket on Pahalgam seat, was elected as chairman while Advocate Javaid of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was elected as vice Chairman.

They said that PAGD candidates were backed by Congress party’s DDC members as well.

It is pertinent to mention here that among 14 seats in Anantnag, six were won by NC, three each by Congress and independents and two by PDP.
