SRINAGAR: The killings by the virulent virus have gone further down as in the last 24 hours 14 persons were reported dead as the new Covid19 infections across the 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir were recorded at 866. However, 2153 persons, almost three times of the infections, recovered and went home.

Kashmir lost six citizens and Jammu eight in the last 24 hours.

The trend of infected people outnumbering the fully recovered people continues. In the last 24 hours, as many as 2153 people recovered thus reducing the number of active cases to 16284. The recoveries included 707 cases in Jammu and 1446 in Kashmir.

Now the death toll of Covid19 in Jammu and Kashmir is 4174 people including 2144 in Kashmir and 2030 in Jammu.

In the last 24 hours, only one person died in Jammu city and two in Srinagar city, the information revealed by the government said.

The district-wise details suggest that Kashmir lost one citizen each in Ganderbal, Anantnag, Budgam, Baramulla and Kupwara.

Apart from a death reported from Jammu city, the region lost three citizens in Rajouri, two in Doda and one each in Samba, and Poonch.

In the last 24 hours, officials said 866 new Covid-19 positives were reported from across Jammu and Kashmir. Of them, Srinagar alone accounted for 164, and Jammu, the other capital of the erstwhile state reported 34 cases.

Of the new cases detected in the last 24 hours, Kashmir accounts for 601 cases against 265 of the Jammu division.

In Kashmir, the new cases include 66 from Baramulla, 71 from Budgam, 71 from Pulwama, 68 from Kupwara, 51 from Anantnag, 34 from Bandipora, 31 from Ganderbal, 37 from Kulgam, and eight from Shopian.

From Jammu, officials said Udhampur reported 18, Rajouri 32, Doda 45, Kathua 12, Samba 20, Kishtwar 5, Poonch 29, Ramban 50, and Reasi 205.

Right now, Jammu and Kashmir has 16284 active cases, which includes 10262 in Kashmir 6022 in Jammu.
