Death of Kashmiri Trucker: Protests Rock Islamabad, Separatists Call for Complete Shutdown on Monday

Massive protests erupted in South Kashmir’s Batengoo area of Khanabal in district Islamabad after one of its natives who was injured in Udhampur attack on intervening night of October 9/10 succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in New Delhi on Sunday.

Zahid (24) son of Ghulam Rasool Bhat of Batengo was shifted to Safderjung hospital in New Delhi after he suffered serious burn injuries when hooligans attacked their truck with a petrol bomb. Besides Zahid, a 35 year old Showkat had suffered burn injuries and were evacuated to hospital in Jammu from where they were shifted to hospital in New Delhi for specialized treatment.

According to hospital Sources, Zahid breathed his last today morning and soon after the news was received in his home town, hundreds of people took to streets and staged massive protests demanding severe punishment to the attackers, six of whom were claimed to have been arrested by police while few others are still absconding.

Hurriyat (g), Hurriyat (m) and JKLF called for complete strike across Kashmir Valley on Monday against the death of Kashmiri trucker.
