SRINAGAR: Incarcerated Er Rashid lead Jammu Kashmir Awami Itehad Party on Sunday in a statement denounced the monstrously cold-blooded approach of LG administration towards people of Kashmir.

AIP spokesman in a statement said on one side this heartless regime is entertaining junkets of BJP leaders from India and on other side hapless stranded passengers are dying from sub-zero temperatures on the highway.

“It is absolutely regretful that the present administration is not doing enough for stranded passengers on the highway. Yesterday two people stranded in Banihal region lost their lives since they had to spend the night in their vehicle owing to the fact that nearly all hotels were full as per local sources,” he said.

“They have been identified as Shabir Ahmad Mir (son of Abdul Rashid Mir) and Majid Gulzar Mir (son of Gulzar Ahmad Mir) of Kralpora in Kupwara. They were in their TATA Mobile (JK09B-7358) and died during the night. There are around 500 odd vehicles stranded in Banihal and adjoining localities,” he added.

“Most of the people are stuck in own vehicles as the local hotels are already full,” said Ashai in a statement.

Ashai deplored the callous approach of present Government, he demanded a high-level probe over the Highway mess.

“The highway for majority of the time remains unjustifiably closed for larger parts of the year, the road project that has been going on has become a gold mine for vested interests and in the process, Kashmir region has not only lost precious lives but also suffered losses amounting to crores of rupees,” he said.

“The least Administration could’ve done was to ensure that in life-threatening sub-zero temperatures required arrangements were made for stranded passengers by the Government but since things are being remote-controlled from New Delhi post-August 5, 2019, the present Government has zero connect with the common people on ground and honesty don’t give two hoots whether a common Kashmiri lives or dies,” Ashai further added.

Awami Itehad Party leader admonished the devilish approach of officials, those at the helm who simply ignored the plight of stranded passengers for weeks together.

Ashai squarely blamed the LG administration for the death of two citizens from North Kashmir; termed it as cold-blooded murder.

He strongly demanded that LG Manoj Sinha must immediately resign on moral grounds and rest of stranded passengers be airlifted immediately if need be.
