Jammu and Kashmir government on Monday said that the dates for holding panchayat elections will be made after all parties meet.

Parliamentary affairs minister Abdul Rehman Veeri informed the Legislative Assembly that the announcement for holding Panchayat polls will be made after taking views from all the parties of the state.

He said that the Minister for Rural Development department will convene an all-party meeting to take a decision on Panchayat elections.

Earlier, the government announced that Panchayat polls will be held in the state from February 15.

Opposition National Conference and the Congress have already said that the situation on the ground is not right to hold the local body polls now.
