SRINAGAR: Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh who is in the valley, on Monday said that militancy in Kashmir is phasing in its last stage as decisive action is being taken to fight militancy which has resulted in a huge number of tourists in the valley.

Dr Singh, the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Ministry of Earth Sciences, Minister of State (Independent Charge) Ministry of Science and Technology, MoS PMO and Minister of State Ministry of Personnel and Public Grievances, made these comments while speaking to media on the sidelines of several inaugural, interaction and flag off events in district Budgam.

In a response to a question by the media over the recent civilian killings as per the news agency Kashmir KNS, Dr Singh said that from the beginning Pakistan has been indulging in these mischievous acts but the decisive action is being taken against militancy.

“Militants are on run and selecting soft targets, a decisive action is being taken against them, the action which was not witnessed over the past few years, and overall this may be the last stage of militancy and that is why we are witnessing the huge number of tourists visiting the valley,” Dr Singh said.

Responding to the question over the remarks made by the National Conference on the arrival of tourists in the valley earlier, Dr Singh said that it is the era of evidence-based argument as numbers are available to all.

“Get the previous figures of tourist arrivals in the valley and you can make an idea, speak to the hoteliers, Houseboat owners who struggled over the last few years,” Dr Singh said.
