SRINAGAR: Decomposed body of a person, presumed to be in his 20s, was found in a village in Pahalgam area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials said on Wednesday evening.
Quoting officials news agency GNS reported that some passersby spotted the body at Mandlan village and informed the police about it. Soon after, a police team arrived at the site and shifted the body to a nearby health facility for required medico-legal formalities, they said.
Confirming it, a police official told GNS that the body has been kept in a mortuary till identification is made. “We have sought help from experts to extract the DNA sample of the body for proper identification”, the official said adding the process may take a day or two.
