Intense clashes, were reported from Pulwama town Wednesday, between the students of Government Degree College Pulwama and government forces.

Reportedly clashes started when police tried to stop students from marching towards the main town. “As the students marched outside the college, police used tear gas to chase them inside. The students retaliated by pelting stones, which triggered chaos in the town,” said an eyewitness.

He said that police did not went near the college however the students later marched upto the Murran chowk of the town where a heavy contingent of police stopped their march.

Sources said that angry students pelted stones on forces who retaliated with tear smoke shells.

They added that soon the shopkeepers pulled down their shutters as the clashes intensify and spread.

Pertinently, at least 60 students were injured in force’s action in the same college on April 15. Since then student protests are order of the day in Kashmir.

Meanwhile clashes were also reported from Ganderbal when police foiled a march of students of Government Degree College, Ganderbal.

Reports said that the students boycotted their classes and staged protest inside the college premises.

Later, the students tried to march into the streets.

However, police foiled their march by bursting teargas shells, triggering clashes.
