The Minister for Education, Altaf Bukhari on Thursday chaired a meeting to discuss the modalities regarding establishment of Government Degree College at Drass in district Kargil.

The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary, Finance, Navin Kumar Choudhary, Commissioner Secretary Planning, Development and Monitoring; Rohit Kansal, Commissioner Secretary Higher Education, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, DC Kargil, senior officials from JKPCC, R&B, JK Housing Board and Principal, GDC, Kargil.

The meeting discussed the issues pertaining to establishment of the Degree College. The financial aspects for its construction were discussed threadbare.

Bukhari directed the concerned officials to prepare a memorandum for approval of the cabinet in this regard. He said the college will be made through pre-engineered manner and will replicate the architecture of GDC Khansahib in Budgam which is the Model College.

The Minister said that the college will be provided with central heating facility as it is being made in cold region. The meeting also discussed various other issues pertaining improvement of education sector in the state.
