The statement caused an early controversy even National Conference working president Omar Abdullah demanded an apology from Mufti.
“My father is a man of peace he believes in the democratic process, Mehbooba said adding “there was less violence this time compared to the Lok Sabha polls.”
Mehbooba said, “if separatists and militants are stepping back from violence we should encourage them.”
“Armed forces were there in previous elections too but there was violence my father is not a war monger, don’t expect him to say ‘Bomb Pakistan’,” Mehbooba said.
She elaborated, “my father’s point is we need to engage Pakistan so they have a stake in peace in Jammu & Kashmir.”
