Delhi Police has denied permission to Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman, Mohammad Yasin Malik to hold a 48-hour hunger strike at Janatr Mantar to press for his demands including handing over the body of Parliament attack case convict Afzal Guru and Mohammad Maqbool Bhat to their families.

“Yes, we are not going to allow him,” City Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar has been quoted as saying when asked whether any decision was taken to deny permission for the protest at Jantar Mantar starting on Friday.

The decision came after security agencies submitted a report to the Union Home Ministry that giving permission to Malik to hold protest in Delhi may create law and order problem.

According to sources, the report also said Malik had been involved in “anti-national” activities in the past.
