SRINAGAR: Delhi Police has granted a one-time exemption permitting the Cockroach Janata Party to hold a dharna and demonstration at Jantar Mantar on Saturday, June 6, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, according to an official communication issued by the New Delhi District Police.
The permission was conveyed by the Office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, New Delhi District, following a request submitted by party representative Abhijeet Dipke on the same day.
The order states that the demonstration has been allowed in view of the undertaking furnished by the organisers and will be subject to the terms and conditions laid down under Standing Order No. L&O/48/2022. The conditions are in compliance with directions issued by the Supreme Court of India in its order dated July 23, 2018, in Writ Petition (Civil) No. 1153 of 2017 and connected civil appeals.
Police authorities clarified that the approval has been granted as a “one-time exemption”, indicating that the permission does not constitute a precedent for future events.
Jantar Mantar remains one of the designated locations in the national capital for holding peaceful protests and demonstrations, subject to prior approval and adherence to prescribed guidelines.
