SRINAGAR: Delhi Police on Sunday clarified that no permission has been sought or granted for any protest march or procession in the New Delhi district ahead of the commencement of the Parliament session on Sunday.

In a statement issued through social media, the police said prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) are in force across the New Delhi district. As a result, protest marches, processions, demonstrations and assemblies of five or more persons are prohibited, except at the designated protest site at Jantar Mantar.
Delhi Police urged citizens to comply with the law, refrain from participating in any unauthorised gathering or march, and cooperate with the authorities in maintaining public peace, safety and security during the Parliament session.
The clarification comes ahead of the start of the Parliament session, when heightened security arrangements are in place across the national capital.
