Srinagar

Despite a state holiday on the occasion of Mela Khir Bhawani, Governor N N Vohra on Wednesday took over as the state’s new ruler. Vohra drove to the civil secretariat and presided over a meeting with top bureaucrats and identified the major tasks which shall require to be dealt with on a strict time bound basis.

It was the first official meeting of Governor Vohra after taking over as the new ruler of the state following BJP withdrawing its support from PDP. This led to immediate resignation by Mehbooba Mufti.

As the governor is busy in the meeting, there are a lot of rumors in the civil; secretariat. One rumor in the corridors of civil secretariat suggests that B V R Subramanyam, who was officially informed to report in Jammu and Kashmir, is likely to take over as the new chief secretary of Jammu and Kashmir. He was earlier posted as additional chief secretary (Home) in Chhattisgarh government. In that case, the most senior officer in the state, B B Vyas may have to take over as the senior adviser to the governor.

“There has not been any order to this effect so far,” a senior officer told from the civil secretariat. “There is a meeting going on and maybe, there might be many orders later today.”

As per sources in the secretariat, Governor Vohra is presently speaking to senior officers of the Civil, Police, Forest and other departments in a meeting which will be followed by a Security Review Meeting at the Raj Bhavan later in the day.
