National Conference working president and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday questions the authorities after a foreign skier died in an avalanche in north Kashmir’s ski resort Gulmarg.

“Very unfortunate. How were these skiers allowed to ski off-piste considering that avalanche warnings had been issued 24 hours ago?” Omar wrote on Twitter.

Pertinent to mention, a Swedish skier was killed while another was rescued by police after an avalanche struck tourist resort of Gulmarg area of district Baramulla on Thursday.

Reports said that a Swedish tourist, identified as Daniel, was killed while another who went missing identified as Benjeman from Sweden was rescued after the avalanche struck near the second phase of Gandola cable car project on Affarwat peak.
