Development on Other Side of LoC Driven by China, Not Pakistan: CM to JK Assembly

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said that the development seen on the other side of LoC has been primarily driven by China, with little contribution from the Pakistan government.

Speaking in the Assembly, Abdullah made the remark following a heated exchange between members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the National Conference (NC) over the state of border areas in the region.

“We must acknowledge that while development in our frontier areas remains limited, across the border, efforts have been made to showcase progress. However, this so-called development has been facilitated by China, not Pakistan,” he said.

Abdullah further asserted that India has never sought foreign assistance for infrastructure development in its border regions. Criticising the portrayal of growth in Pakistan, he said, “They made people wear coats to create the illusion of development, but in reality, the pockets of those coats are empty.” (KNO)
