Devyani Rana Takes Strong Lead in Nagrota Assembly Bypoll

   

SRINAGAR: Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Devyani Rana has established a commanding lead in the Nagrota Assembly by-election, amassing 30,230 votes after seven of the eleven counting rounds were completed.

Figures from the counting centre show Rana ahead by 21,424 votes, creating a wide margin over her closest rivals in what is shaping up to be a one-sided contest.

Harsh Dev Singh of the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party has polled 8,806 votes, while NC’s Shamim Begum has secured 7,600 votes. Candidates from the JK Apni Party, Aam Aadmi Party, and independents are trailing significantly.

Other candidates include Bodh Raj with 316 votes, Anil Sharma 190, Joginder Singh 247, Shah Mohd 173, Gulzar Hussain 221, Qari Zaheer Abbas Bhatti 58, and Naresh Kumar Chib 112. NOTA has recorded 240 votes.

Election officials confirmed that counting is proceeding smoothly, with the final outcome expected to become clearer as the remaining rounds are completed.
