The Director General of prisons, J&K K Rejendra, visited Central Jail, Srinagar,  and directed measures for up-gradation of vocational training facilities in the Jail and interacted with the jail inmates regarding the facilities available to them in the jail.

Rajendra stressed upon the Jail authorities for furthering various reformative programmes that can go a long way in making them self reliant so that they cannot face any problem in the society after their release.

He was accompanied by DIG prisons Mohammad Sultan Lone. The DG prisons along with DIG prisons, Dy Commandant CRPF and Superintendent, Central Jail Srinagar, Mohammad Ayub Bhat took stock of security of the Jail and interacted with Jail inmates.

The DG prisons also enquired from the prisoners about the facilities being provided to them by the Jail authorities. According to police statement the Jail inmates show their satisfaction over the facilities like medical, diet and other recreational facilities provided to them.

The DG prisons also reviewed the ongoing construction works of the Jail and directed measures for upgrading the vocational training programmes for Jail inmates so that after their release from the Jail they will be able to earn their livelihood and live a respectable life in the society.

The DG prisons also visited ten bedded hospital of the Jail and interacted with the doctors and Para medical staff. He advised the doctors to provide best medical facilities to the jail inmates round the clock.

The police statement added that the visit to Central Jail, Srinagar was in continuance to the series of visits by the Director General of Prisons to the District Jail. A Day before DG Prisons visited the Islamabad jail for seeking on the ground feedback from the jail inmates about the facilities available to them.
