Director General of Prisons, Navin Aggarwal, on Thursday visited District Jail Udhampur and conducted Annual Administrative Inspection.

As per a statement Aggarwal had a round of the barracks, interacted with the inmates and enquired about the facilities being provided to them as well as about the legitimate help. “The inmates expressed their satisfaction.”

The DGP assured the inmates that all efforts will be done to improve their living conditions and Jail authorities will be provided all basic amenities.

He exhorted upon the prison inmates that they should utilize their time inside the Prison in a useful and productive manner so that they come out as better citizens upon their release.

The DGP issued on the spot instructions to the Technical Officer Prisons to undertake renovations and provide water and toilet facilities for the CRPF Barracks and staff accommodation.

During his visit, Aggarwal also visited the stores of District Jail, meditation centre, fitness centre, vocational Training Centre, IGNOU Class room and adult literacy Centre.

Chief Account Officer Prisons, JM Kar, Commanding Officer,187 CRPF Bn, MKSharma, Superintendent District Jail,Udhampur,  Vinod Kumar, Technical Officer Prisons,  Varinder Razdan, Additional SP, Udhampur,  Benam Tosh and Medical Officer, Dr Pushp accompanied the DGP during the inspection.
