SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat on Monday called for coordinated efforts across society to protect children and young people from drug abuse, saying the fight against narcotics required active public participation.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function at Police Public School in Srinagar, Prabhat said the anti-drug campaign was gaining momentum across Jammu and Kashmir under the leadership of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
Describing children as the country’s future, the DGP stressed the need for a collective responsibility to safeguard the younger generation from substance abuse.
Referring to the ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking in Srinagar, he said several arrests had been made as part of efforts to curb the menace.
Prabhat said combating drug abuse required a whole-of-government approach, alongside the involvement of people from all sections of society.
He urged the public to join the campaign and adopt a firm stand against narcotics.
