After the SMHS attack where a Pakistani militant Naveed Jatt escaped, the Director General Prisons, Dilbag Singh is on a series of visits in various jails to monitor their functioning. Today he visited District Jail Islamabad and special Jail Pulwama to review the security and other necessary arrangements.

DIG Prisons, Dr. Mohd Sultan Lone, DIG SKR Shri Amit Kumar, SSP Anantnag Shri Altaf Khan, and other senior officers accompanied the DG.

This was his first visit to Kashmir Province after taking over as Head of J&K Prisons Department.

As per statement during the visit, issues regarding security, management, and infrastructure were discussed. DGP Prisons also interacted with the inmates while making the detailed round of inside and outside premises of the Institution and issued on-spot necessary instructions to address the genuine problems.

Later, the DGP Prisons paid a visit to Special Jail  ( Correctional Home) Pulwama to get familiarised with the institution, it’s working,  and security as well as infrastructure requirements viz-a-viz gadgetry up-gradation, said statement.

During his visit to Special Jail Pulwama, the DGP chaired a high-level security review meeting which was attended by  DIG Police South Kashmir Range  Shri Amit Kumar, DIG Prisons Dr. Mohd Sultan Lone, SSP Pulwama  Shri Mohd Aslam,  Addl.  SP Pulwama Shri  Chandan Kohli,  DySP  Shri  Zaheer Abbass, DySP Security IRP 18th Bn,  Mr. Fahim Ali, and other officers.

The DGP Prisons instructed the Jail Superintendents to follow the security protocol and adhere to the security procedures strictly.
