District Hospital Pulwama on Wednesday performed first ever successful Radical Nephrectomy on a 50-year-old male patient. The patient was presented with an incidental diagnosis of left renal mass on USG. Then the Patient was advised to do CECT which revealed a heterogeneously enhancing huge mass measuring around 9×8 cm arising from lower and mid pole of the kidney.

The spokesman said Radical Nephrectomy was performed by a team of doctors.

The patient is recovering well & has been discharged. The Operative team headed by Urologist Dr Ashiq included Senior Surgeon Dr Ayub, Dr Iffat Dr Naseer (Anaesthetist) and Nasir Pandit along with OT staff.

Director Health Services, Kashmir, Dr Saleem ur Rehman while appreciating the operative team and hospital administration said that the scope of delivering advanced health care services in the peripheries is increasing and the department is focused on augmenting the logistics & human resource for better patient care
