SRINAGAR: Rajouri district administration has initiated disciplinary action against several government officials accused of attending a recent political gathering.

Reports suggest that the meeting, held at the residence of a retired police officer, featured former minister and NC leader Mian Altaf. Notably, among the attendees were a Naib Tehsildar and personnel from various government departments.

Government sources said that approximately 26 government employees, including a Naib Tehsildar and an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), have been issued show cause notices for their alleged involvement in the political gathering. The incident occurred several days ago in Khevra, Rajouri, and included officials from diverse professional backgrounds such as engineering, healthcare, and education.

Addressing the issue, Deputy Commissioner Om Prakash Bhagat stressed accountability, instructing department heads to seek explanations from the implicated employees.

However, supporters of the accused political party have challenged the portrayal of the gathering as politically motivated, denying allegations of misconduct.

They said that Mian Altaf, received visitors seeking blessings rather than engaging in any kind of political activities.

Furthermore, reports indicate that the purported presence of government personnel at the gathering has sparked scrutiny, with videos and photographs forwarded to higher authorities for investigation. (KNO)
