In pursuance of direction of High Court of Jammu and Kashmir regarding PIL no. 361/2011 c/w PIL no. 12/2018 titled A.R Hanjura V/S State, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmed Khan today chaired a meeting to discuss the menace of dog bites, particularly, those having rabies.

The meeting was attended by Amicus Curiae, A.H Naik, Revenue Attorney, Commissioner SMC, Additional Commissioner, Kashmir, SP Srinagar, ADC Srinagar, Deputy Director Urban Local Bodies, Assistant Commissioner (Central) and other concerned officials.

Div Com directed SMC to intensify dog sterilization drive in the Valley and furnish a weekly report of the work done under the drive.

He directed SMC to place sufficient number of dustbins in all the areas and ensure timely and proper waste collection from garbage bins and sheds.

He asked the officials to check the proper use of dustbins (with lid) used at chicken and meat shops and to check the proper waste managements at Hospitals, restaurants, marriage halls and at various other places where the waste is produces on daily basis.

He asked District Administration, Urban Local Bodies and SMC to intensify awareness drives besides wide publicity through print and electronic media regarding proper waste management.

He asked the concerned officials to work with dedication and also directed them to keep the photographic documentation of all these works.
