Chairing a review meeting, Kundal examined the status of land acquisition for accommodating BSF companies by the J&K Police and the identification of suitable state land for establishing five additional BSF battalions in Jammu, Kathua, Udhampur and Reasi districts.

The meeting also reviewed land-related requirements for Border Out Posts (BOPs), the proposed 135-feet border fencing and pending proposals concerning the acquisition and transfer of state land to the CRPF and other security agencies.

Inspector General BSF, Jammu, presented a detailed account of land acquisition and requisition cases pending at different levels across the districts. The Deputy Commissioners concerned briefed the Divisional Commissioner on the status of individual cases and the issues delaying their resolution.

Taking note of the pending proposals, Kundal directed the Deputy Commissioners to examine each case separately and ensure its disposal within stipulated timelines.

He also asked district administrations and representatives of security forces to undertake joint field visits, wherever necessary, to physically verify identified land, resolve discrepancies and address site-related issues.

The Deputy Commissioners were directed to personally monitor cases falling within their jurisdictions and take proactive measures to remove bottlenecks in coordination with the departments concerned and security agencies.

Emphasising the need for better coordination, Kundal called for timely submission of required documents and removal of procedural hurdles to facilitate the acquisition and transfer of land.

The meeting was attended in person by the Inspector General BSF, Jammu, and Inspector General CRPF, Jammu, while Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police of the Jammu Division participated virtually.
