SRINAGAR: The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan today convened a meeting to review the arrangements for the celebration of Eid-i-Milaad-un-Nabi across the Kashmir Division.

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal, Additional Commissioner Kashmir Chief Engineer R&B, GM SRTC, Director Health Services, RTO Kashmir, SSP Srinagar, SSP Traffic, Joint Commissioner SMC, Deputy Director Food supplies, Joint Director Fire and Emergency Services, SE PDD, Administrator WAKF Board, Assistant Commissioner (central) with Div Com  and other concerned officers were present in the meeting where as other Deputy Commissioners of the Kashmir Division participated the meeting through video conferencing, the spokesman said.

On the occasion, Div Com directed PHE Department to ensure proper water supply during the Milaad days. Similarly, SMC, LAWDA and PDD were asked to repair all defunct street lights in and around  Hazratbal and other shrines and also ensure round the clock electricity during the festive days.

SRTC will make elaborative arrangements for transport facilities  for the devotees, while Food Department shall ensure availability of ration items like Rice, Atta, Sugar, K. oil and LPG cylinders in adequate quantity.

With regard to sanitation, Div Com directed SMC to ensure proper sanitation in and around Hazratbal Shrine and launch a special sanitation drive during Milaad days to remove garbage from lanes and by-lanes before sunrise.

Threadbare discussion were also held regarding the installation of Public Address System, deployment of fire tenders and audit of fire hydrants, traffic management, adequate parking spaces, health services with premedical staff and critical care ambulances, heating arrangements, repairment of roads, distribution of fire wood and other arrangements in Hazratbal and other Shrines of the Kashmir Division.

The Divisional Commissioner directed Deputy Commissioners to hold separate meetings with the concerned officers and ensure all basic amenities will be provided to the general public during the holy days.
