Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan Tuesday reviewed the preparations for the special 7-day urban outreach programme being held in Srinagar city.

The special outreach programme with similar format and purpose as that of the flagship Back to Village programme of the government is aimed at reviewing development needs of the Srinagar city and addressing grievances and concerns in this regard.

The 7-day programme being held across all 35 municipal wards of Srinagar city starts on January 9 and concludes on January 22. It will be held in five wards on each of the seven days of the programme.

In each ward officers from all concerned line departments will be present and will hold thorough public interactions and field visits and undertake complete recording of grievances as raised on the occasion.

The Divisional Commissioner instructed to ensure thorough recording and evaluation of concerns and issues reported in all wards during the programme.

He instructed that all teams of officers must note all critical developmental gaps in each ward and shall submit detailed compiled reports in this regard to the office of the District Development Commissioner.

The meeting also discussed the contents of the finalised programme and activities to be undertaken as part thereof by different departments.

District Development Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary who was present informed the meeting that a comprehensive administrative plan has been formulated as part of the programme.

He said that all concerned line departments are taking part in the programme adding that elaborate arrangements have been made to ensure maximum participation of local people in the programme.

Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation Khurshid Ahmad Sanai who was also present informed the meeting about the preparations and the plan the Corporation has made to ensure the successful conduct of the programme.

It is notable that this special urban outreach programme in Srinagar is being held on the instructions of Divisional Commissioner Baseer Ahmad Khan. Instructions in this regard were issued to the district administration last month.

Senior officers from all concerned line departments attended the meeting.
