Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, Saturday conveyed a meeting with R&B Engineers to review arrangements put in place regarding snow clearance in view of forecast of heavy snowfall on January 15-16 in the valley.
The Divisional Commissioner directed the Engineers to ensure availability of snow cutter machines at all district headquarters so that clearance of snow from roads is ensured at an earliest. He asked them to keep men and machinery ready for snow clearance and dewatering pumps in case of water logging.
He was briefed that 310 snow cutter machines have been kept ready for the purpose, besides several machines have been dispatched to far flung areas of the valley for augmenting snow clearance operations.
The Div Com directed the engineers to constitute joint control rooms at district and central levels in offices of Chief Engineers and Superintending Engineers for better coordination and quick response to meet any exigency.
