SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, on Friday directed officials to resolve all pending issues at the 60 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at Noorbagh by May 31 to ensure its full operationalisation.
Chairing a high-level review of major sewerage projects in Kashmir, the Divisional Commissioner emphasised the need to address electricity supply constraints, leakages and pending household connections linked to the Noorbagh facility on priority.
The meeting assessed progress on multiple projects being executed by the Urban Environmental Engineering Department (UEED), including the proposed 30 MLD STP aimed at reducing pollution in Dal Lake, a 14 MLD STP at Alluchibagh, and a 6 MLD STP for Doodganga. Officials informed that survey and design work for the 30 MLD project has been completed, with site development currently underway.
The Superintending Engineer, UEED, presented updates on key issues such as relocation of shops along the 90-feet road and demolition of unsafe structures at Alamgiribazar. It was informed that funds for shop relocation have been released and the process is likely to be completed by August.
The meeting also reviewed the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for newly developed habitations in Zone-III of Greater Srinagar, incorporating advanced systems such as tertiary treatment, SCADA and Online Continuous Effluent Monitoring Systems.
The Divisional Commissioner stressed expediting household connections to strengthen the sewerage network and ensure effective utilisation of infrastructure.
Senior officials, including the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, representatives from KPDCL, R and B, NBCC and other departments, attended the meeting.
