Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) on Thursday organised a two-day photography workshop.

Noted photographer and Sony alpha specialist, Sameer Ashraf, is resource person for the workshop.

Deliberating at length on photography, Ashraf termed photography an art that cannot be taught in classrooms. “If you want to be a photographer, you need to have passion for photography and then learn the technicalities of camera,” Ashraf told students. “Experience is what differentiates a professional photographer from a budding one.”

He shared his work with students in the form of portraits, landscape, fashion and so on, besides sharing his experience about Palestinian conflict, post-Afghanistan war.

Head, DJMC, Dr Ruheela Hassan said the department has always tried to compliment the theoretical knowledge with the practical training. “This workshop was one such effort.
