SRINAGAR: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is embarking on a journey to Siachen Glacier, the world’s highest battlefield, today, and celebrate the Holi festival with the troops stationed there.

Preceding the Minister’s visit, Chief of Army General Manoj Pande undertook a crucial inspection of the security apparatus along the LoC in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu district. The move underscores the military’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation’s borders.

Expressing anticipation for the forthcoming visit, Minister Rajnath Singh shared his excitement on social media, stating, “.., I shall be in Siachen, the World’s highest battlefield. Looking forward to celebrating Holi with the armed personnel deployed there.”

Accompanying the Defence Minister on this journey are military leaders, including Army Chief General Manoj Pande, GOC-in-C Northern Command Lt. General MV Suchindra Kumar, and GOC of Leh-based 14 Corps Lt. General Rashim Bali, among others.

During his two-hour stay at the glacier, Rajnath Singh is expected to interact with troops, boosting morale and expressing gratitude for their selfless commitment. Besides, he will conduct a thorough assessment of the security situation in the region, including Eastern Ladakh along the LAC, where tensions persist with China.
