SRINAGAR: In an interesting outcome of the results, two districts have ejected a daughter and a father each. In Poonch, it is a Muslim father and daughter that won from two different segments in the district for congress. BJP repeated the same but in Doda.

Reports said that Thakur Yudvir Singh who won the DDC election from Bhaderwah West constituency along with his daughter Jaya Rani who won from Bhagwah constituency took the oath of office in the presence of their other family members who were sitting in the VIP gallery of the community hall Doda.

Both father and daughter called it an emotional moment for them as they took the oath of DDC  jointly.

Shakti Devi said that she has been feeling proud of her husband and daughter who has become DDC members from Bhaderwah and Bhagwah of Doda district respectively on BJP tickets and expressed hope that both will work for their constituencies.

Meanwhile, Abdul Ghani a senior Congress leader and Party’s District President won DDC polls from Poonch constituency while his daughter Nazia Ghani won from Nangali Sahib Sai Baba constituency.

The duo emerged victorious after defeating Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates in their respective constituencies.

On Monday, Oath ceremony was held at Poonch Degree College wherein Deputy Commissioner (DC) Poonch administered oath to the newly elected DDC members.

The father-daughter duo also took an oath, vowing to work for the upliftment of masses. “We will work for the development of our constituencies in the best possible manner and will leave no stone unturned in serving masses,” reports quoted duo as saying.
