Days after the state government warned of invoking ESMA on employees remaining absent from their duties, CPI (M) State secretary and MLA Kulgam, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami Friday requested the government to do against the law.

Speaking in the J&K Legislative assembly, the CPI (M) leader said that J&K is already having many draconian laws in place and that there is no need of invoking ESMA. He counseled the government and the employees to avoid path of confrontation and solve things amicably through talks.

“I request the government not to invoke ESMA as we are already burdened by many draconian laws here. There should be no more crackdowns on the employees.Let the state government and employees’ discuss things peacefully through negotiations,” Tarigami said.

On the failure of the government and employees talks so far, Tarigami said: “This august house needs to be taken into confidence about it…..The state government must clear that why the talks are failing and why the employees are always choose the confrontation path.”

BJP legislator, Chaman Lal Gupta also sought an explanation from the government over the failure of the talks with employees. “This house should look at it (failure of the government and employee talks) seriously,” said Gupta.

The BJP leader also asked NC legislator Chowdhary Mohammad Ramzan and Congress leader, Taj Mohi-ud-din to avoid sharing statements related to ‘Policy Matters’, of the house to media.

“Any statement pertaining to the policy matters of this house should only be shared here. You should skip informing the media about it,” Gupta said. However, Ramzan denied of sharing any information related to the house with media.
